Dental X-Rays
The ADA encourages dentists and patients to discuss dental treatment recommendations, including the need for X-rays, to make informed decisions together.
Balancing the benefits of detecting dental issues early with the minimal risk associated with radiation exposure, to ensure the well-being and safety of all dental patients is our clinical responsibility.
In our commitment to patient safety and top-tier care as licensed dental professionals, we adhere to state regulations and the American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines regarding the frequency and requirement of dental X-rays.
The ADA emphasizes that the frequency of X-ray examinations should be determined by the patient's individual health needs, considering factors such as: the patient's age, oral health status, risk factors for disease, and any symptoms or signs of oral disease.
If we do not have a recent x-ray, we have a responsibility to ensure nothing is present that cannot be detected with normal visual inspection of your mouth.
If you are concerned about the need for an x-ray, let's have a conversation about where that concern lies. We will explain the clinical criteria, which we are also required to document in your health record.
If your concern is financial, we are happy to make payment arrangements that support both your good health and your budget.
