What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a valuable alternative to removable dentures. A dental implant is titanium cylinder which serves a similar purpose to the roots of natural teeth. By integrating to the jawbone, they can permanently support restorations such as crowns, bridges, and dentures. In this way, the restorations would perform like natural dentition. The implants won’t decay and are designed to last for the rest of your life. Implants can be used in conjunction with various dental procedures to improve our oral health. Once they are installed, you’re much less likely to face problems with slippage and discomfort.
To maintain the dental implants and to make sure they would last for many years, the patient needs to commit to 3 things:
1. Brushing and flossing on daily basis      2. Dental cleaning every 3 months      3. A night guard
Dentures
Dental implants are widely regarded as the best permanent treatment for loose dentures. Permanent dental implants are designed to make dentures fix to the jaws so thery would be much more secure and enable you to smile, eat and talk confidently. By having the implants, your lower denture would not slip or rock anymore. And by connecting the upper denture to them, we can eliminate the palate part of the denture which would help you with the sensation of cold/hot and tasting the food.
The Process
To find out more about our dental implant services Click Here to set-up a 60 minutes consultation with Dr. A.
On the consultation appointment, we will assess your your complete medical and oral health and explain all your treatment options, requirements and concerns so can come to an informed decision. The next step is to conduct an CT Scan (Cone Beam). Using the clinical examination and the CT, we establish the best possible treatment using the dental implants.
And then we will book a 90 minutes appointment when we surgically place the dental implants.
Type of Dental Implants:
A. Convetional dental implants are bigger in size/diameter
This type of the dental implants has been used as dental treatment for a long term, over 50 years.  The implants require specific criteria on condition, form, and quality of jaw bone. After the placing of the implants, in most cases, it takes between 3 to 6 months for the dental implants to heal and fully integrate to the jawbone. Then we would book you a 60 min appointment to connect your denture to your new implants.
B. Mini dental implant are narrower in size
Minis are newer innovation and have been used as dental treatment for around 20 years. The mini implants are great option for patients who do not have sufficient bone quality and quantity for traditional implants, where bone grafting or jawbone augmentation is necessary. Because of mini implant's smaller size, procedure of placing them is much less invasive and often requires less bone volume.  Since they do not require surgery, the healing time dramatically is reduced. Pros: less invasive, no bone graft needed, more convenient and comfortable, fewer complications and more affordable.
Most often the whole process is completed in one appointment.
